Living Willow Farm creates living willow landscape features by commission for both private and commercial use. Past projects include the living willow tunnel at Franklin Conservatory Park, the living willow double spiral with dome and tunnel at Dawes Arboretum, and the living willow play domes and tunnels at Aha Play Space.
Farmer and artist Howard Peller plants and weaves live willow branches into structures such as arbors, domes, chairs, fences, playground shelters, tunnels, and meeting spaces. Peller’s willow sculptures have been featured across the United States, including a woven willow installation at Rockefeller Plaza in NYC.
BENEFITS OF LIVING WILLOW STRUCTURES
Willow sculptures add texture and visual interest, as well as providing a biodiverse home for birds and insects. Enjoy watching the flowering catkins in the spring, which nourish bees, and the pleasure of songbirds singing as they find caterpillars in the leaves. A living willow structure also provides practical shade in the summer and a touch of color in the winter.
